Surveys, education, counterfeit drugs. The many opportunities of the Blockchain explained by Massimo Tortorella

The day after Donald Trump’s victory of the US Presidential elections, we all got up incredulous. Nobody expected it, because according to all the surveys Hillary Clinton would have definitely won. And we had the same feeling when most part of the British population voted to leave the European Union, while everybody was sure that, at the end, “Remain” would have prevailed. At least that’s what all the surveys said. Similar examples can be found in every country for different kind of elections and votes. Why does this happen so often? Why can’t polls and surveys foresee these results anymore? Difficult and broad questions that many researchers are trying to answer. But one of the possible reasons is that they are not certified.

Most polls today are based on trust. It is not possible to verify or check how they are conducted nor how the sample is chosen. They can be manipulated for so many reasons and goals and they are often wrong. New technologies, however, can offer a solution. If polls are registered on the Blockchain, for example, it won’t be possible to change or manipulate them. It will be possible to certify and verify the entire process and to guarantee data security and unchangeability. And Consulcesi Tech has already created a platform that can make all this real.

«We have created a system that can certify any kind of surveys – said Massimo Tortorella, President of Consulcesi Tech – and we are ready to show it to all the polling organisations that might be interested in it». The same platform can be used also in the field of healthcare surveys, but the opportunities offered by the Blockchain to such sector are endless. Among these, the fight against counterfeit medicines is one of the most meaningful.

«According to the World Health Organisation – said Tortorella – 30% of the medicines that come from the poorest countries are fake. This is not only an economic problem, that tackles the fiscal system of many countries, but also, and most of all, a health problem. In the best-case scenario, in fact, these drugs don’t contain any molecules and they don’t hurt; but in the worst-case scenario, they contain the wrong substances, or the wrong amount of molecules, and can make much damage. Blockchain technology can help us track the medicines and fight this dangerous and huge phenomenon».

Finally, Consulcesi Tech developed some projects also in the education field: «Today people can write whatever they want on their resumés and nobody is able to check whether that information is true. However, if we register training courses or qualification on the Blockchain, people won’t lie on their resumés and employers will be able to verify their education. It is what we are already doing in Albania in the field of Continuous Medical Education and soon we will apply the same system also to our Italian platform».

«In other words – said at the end Massimo Tortorella – today Blockchain technology offers very important opportunities to many different fields. We just need to make them real, and make governments understand the huge benefits that come with it».
