Conversation with Massimo and Andrea Tortorella: «Here’s why the EU must regulate blockchain and cryptocurrencies»

The messagge that Massimo and Andrea Tortorella sent in Brussels to the European institutions is clear: the regulation of cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology is necessary, and we must hurry up. It is the only way to let Europe lead this technological revolution that is hitting not only companies and institutions, but also our daily life.

Right after the launch of their book “Crypto-Revelation” at the European Parliament, they therefore asked the EU to «accept its responsability» to meet the work that «many member states are already doing, adopting an ad hoc regulation to define the sector».
To the presence of members of the European Parliament and the European Commission (MEP Eva Kaili, MEP Fulvio Martusciello, MEP Andreas Schwab and Carl Buhr, Deputy-Head of Cabinet of the Commissioner for the Digital Economy), Andrea (CEO of Consulcesi Tech) and Massimo Tortorella (President of Consulcesi Group), also introduced the first regulated investment fund based on cryptocurrencies and blockchain that has obtained the license from a EU member state, Malta. «This means that for the first time a member state of the European Union has given every banking institution the possibility to promote to their investors this alternative form of investment», Massimo Tortorella explains.
«As this fund shows – Andrea Tortorella adds – regulation can answer to all those objections raised with regard to cryptocurrencies: unsafe exchanges, waste of time, transaction modalities, fiscal issues too».
It is therefore essential that the EU keeps working to meet this technological revolution, that hits much broader sectors than the financial and fintech ones: «The blockchain has endless possibilities of application – Andrea Tortorella goes on – from the pharmaceutical industry to the healthcare sector and the food chain supply: the EU is actually doing a lot to protect the peculiarity of Italian food; if we used the blockchain, we would be sure about the food chain supply and the origin of the products we find on the shelves of the supermarkets».
These are new and fascinating subjects, that will change our daily life just like the Internet did. Being new, however, they are still quite unknown. The authors decided to write the book “Crypto-Revelation” precisely to illustrate them in a simple way, for the general public too. However, Consulcesi Tech went further on, cooperating with the Link Campus University in the organization of an MBA in “Blockchain and Economics of Cryptocurrencies” to train the technicians who will work with the blockchain. The MBA will be available in multiple languages and it will be possible to pay for it using cryptocurrencies. Because future always starts from training.
