Jon Markman on Forbes reports the interest of ten leading companies in the food industry into Blockchain. The technology can control and limit the damage caused, for example, by epidemics to the large-scale retail sector.
A distributed system of this size has never been adopted before. The giants of the food sector want to trace the path of each product from the origin to the supermarket.
The Blockchain protocol would make suppliers and employees dealing with intermediate operations more responsible. In fact, in case of breaking point in the chain, there would be a block visible to all that would not allow the food to continue its path to consumers.
