The blockchain brings advantages to the agricultural supply chain

A study funded by the Dutch government states that the use of blockchain in the agricultural supply chain that brings food from places of origin to our homes could lead to greater consumer confidence and lower costs (because of the removal of some intermediaries).
Andrew Arnold on Forbes explains consumers would know exactly how and where a food product was grown/bred. So they would know all the intermediate stages of the distribution chain: who and how manages the food products and which are the certifications of the operators. So, fraudulent certification and labeling would be reduced to a minimum.
Some big data solutions companies are trying to connect brands and consumers, providing completely transparent information on the production and contents of food products. Up to 50% of consumers say they want honest and current information on the food they buy, brands would do well to heed that demand and provide transparency.
