Paypal is investing in blockchain for the first time through a deal with Cambridge Blockchain company, specializing in digital identity. Michele del Castillo (Forbes) explains that the firm is working on a product that will amount to a digital passport: the user will be able to have strict control of who uses their data, but also be able to use it to verify themselves. “We made an investment in Cambridge Blockchain because it is applying blockchain for digital identity in a way that we believe could benefit financial services companies including PayPal,” a PayPal spokesperson told Forbes.
