MEP Kaili at the “Crypto-revelation” launch in Brussels: «The EU will soon have a crypto assets observatory»
«We need legal certainty to allow the Blockchain technology to develop». MEP Eva Kaili has no doubt about the important link between regulation and innovation. Taking part to the presentation of the book “Crypto-revelation” by the Italian entrepreneurs Andrea and Massimo Tortorella in Brussels, she explained what the EU has already done in this sector and what it is willing to do. «We already have a Blockchain observatory to monitor how this technology evolves and we will soon have a crypto assets observatory to watch over the development of the technology of tokens and ICOs».
«We want to show our will and our intention – MEP Kaili went on – to support the Blockchain techology, also with funding and financial opportunities. I do believe that Europe is leading this process. We are at an Italian event and I am from Greece, so we know how much the Southern countries suffered the economic crisis. This technology, offering decentralized solutions, might be a response to not having been able to centrally handle this kind of crisis».
Being the author of the Blockchain resolution recently adopted by the EU Parliament, MEP Kaili well knows the opportunities that this technology offers, especially for the public sector: «The Blockchain removes intermediation and friction – she explained – so it lets us reduce bureaucracy and low the costs of any contract or certification, making the fight against counterfaiting easier».
«We already have some pilots that the EU Parliament and Commission will implement in the public sector to solve this kind of problems – MEP Kaili announced -, so I think we are quite advanced. It is a very interesting platform to solve these issues, once and for all. And for all Europeans».
