In Japan a digital coin based on QR codes

The Japanese bank Mizuho is launching a new digital coin based on QR codes to process smartphone payments. John Detrixhe (Quartz) reports that the wallet called J-Coin Pay doesn’t use cryptocurrency or blockchain. Greater use of electronic money would give the Bank of Japan more scope to stimulate the economy.
