Blockchain is the first paradigm that overturns power

When we asked Jacopo Montigiani, General Manager of JSB Solutions, why blockchain technology was so important for the healthcare sector, he quickly answered with a clear and certain voice: «Because it is the first paradigm that overturns power».

«Essentially – he explained – it gives the person who creates data the chance of giving it full visibility». A process that deals with democracy, then: «I think making healthcare more democratic is among the most important things, and maybe it is one of the reasons why people work in this field. And blockchain might make this process possible».

It is therefore time to start thinking about ways to make this technology better known and let people develop the potentials of the blockchain, as JSB Solutions is doing: «We created an open lab where companies can get to know what we are doing. Then, to use a perfect expression even though a bit overused, we ‘contaminate’ our experiences and points of view», said Montigiani.

However, being a new technology that was developed and implemented just in the last few years, it is still difficult to find professionals who can work with it. «The main obstacle – said Dr. Montigiani – is not the technique, because you can learn it, you can teach it and, if you want, you can buy it. The problem is the process, because the blockchain process is quite simple but has huge repercussions on the native processes».

Training new professionals is therefore becoming more and more urgent: «We would like to organise ad hoc training course, maybe with Florence University, to give new graduates the possibility and the instruments necessary to become developers and, most of all, process experts. As we were saying, this is what will make a difference for the future of the blockchain», said Montigiani.

For its part, Consulcesi Tech has already organized, with Link Campus University, a master’s degree in “Blockchain and Economics of Cryptocurrencies”. It will start in March and give the chance of analysing both the technical and economic aspects of the blockchain through a multidisciplinary approach. It will also consider the development potentials of the technology in fields like security, public administrations, intelligence and privacy.
