Blockchain certifies luxury
French luxury brand conglomerate LVMH, owner of Louis Vuitton and other labels, has announced the launch of a blockchain to track luxury goods. Ian Allison (Coindesk) explains that it should take place in May or June and that it should involve Louis Vuitton and Parfums Christian Dior. The application of this technology by the other brands of the conglomerate should take place later. A source reveals: “To begin, it will provide proof of authenticity of luxury items and trace their origins from raw materials to point of sale and beyond to used-goods markets. The next phase of the platform will explore protection of creative intellectual property, exclusive offers and events for each brands’ customers, as well as anti-ad fraud.”
